Olympic silver medallist is scheduled to run his first career indoor 60m race in Astana.
Jamaican sprint champion Kishane Thompson is set to make his career indoor debut at the Astana Indoor Meeting in Kazakhstan on Jan 25th.
The Olympic 100m silver medallist is listed to headline the men's 60m race against a formidable field that includes Canadian speed icon Andre De Grasse, which will be the Jamaican's first race since the Paris final.
Thompson had a breakout 2024 season that saw him win his first national title and ended the year with the world's fastest time of 9.77s. He was highly rated to win the Olympic crown but narrowly lost to Noah Lyles in a photo finish, with both clocking the same time of 9.79s.
Despite this, Thompson remains tipped to dominate the men's sprint pool and be Jamaica's next big thing in the men's sprint after Usain Bolt, as his talent cuts across all phases in the 100m.
By running the 60m in Astana, the 23-year-old will be gunning to show his threat in the event ahead of the world indoor championships by March, and hopefully build on good momentum for the rest of the season, as he eyes claiming Lyles' world title in Tokyo in the summer.
