A former highly rated US speedster blazed back to recognition at the Louisiana Invitational over the weekend.

Former American speed sensation and standout high school speedster Candace Hill has bounced back to reckoning after clocking her second-fastest career time since 2015.

In the 100m invite at the Louisiana Invitational, Hill clocked a Season's Best (SB) of 11.01s (1.9m/s) to conveniently win her heat, which was the third-fastest overall behind Aleia Hobbs and Favour Ofili's joint 10.78w.

It is the fastest she's ever gone since she broke into the limelight as a 16-year-old when she ran a Personal Best (PB) of 10.98s at the 2015 Brooks PR Invitational, thus becoming the world's first high school woman to break the 11-second barrier.

In addition, Hill won the 2015 World Youth Championships with a record of 11.08s (+0.0 m/s). A couple of days later, she completed the sprint double by claiming the 200m in a PB of 22.43s (-0.7 m/s).

She turned professional with ASICS, signing a ten-year contract and became the youngest athlete to sign a Pro deal in US track and field history.

Since her teenage heroics, the talented speedster hasn't been at her best as she has struggled through the years and failed to meet the potential she was highly rated as the future. In a 2021 interview with World Athletics, Hill stated that she found the transition from high school to college a challenge.

Now, the 25-year-old will hope that her rediscovered form can sprung her to greater heights as she aims to make the US Olympic team to Paris.
