Fred Kerley has warned online coaches from offering unsolicited advice to athletes following American legend Carl Lewis's recent revelation.

Former world champion Fred Kerley has slammed 'online coaches' following American legend Carl Lewis’s recent sentiments in an interview with Citius Mag.

Many track and field fans usually have strong opinions on how athletes should run, especially sprinters, with many of them offering unsolicited advice especially when an athlete loses a race.

Others always feel entitled to advise an athlete how to train, something that has rubbed most athletes including Kerley, triple world champion Noah Lyles, and legendary American champion Lewis.

Replying to Lewis’s comments on his X (Twitter) handle, Kerley said: “What I want to tell everyone is please stop coaching from computers. This the line.”

Meanwhile, in his interview, the Houston head coach was commenting on the performance of youngster Louie Hinchliffe following his amazing NCAA 100m Dash win in 9.95 seconds.

He noted that people always have a lot to say in terms of an athlete’s performance but they barely know a thing about their training and coaching techniques.

The eight-time world champion recalled the moment he was still in action and people had a lot to say about his race execution but he ended up winning all the races he was competing in.

“What you have to do is understand the rhythm. What I want to tell everyone is please stop coaching from computers! The guy's start is fine, he’s running fast. Everyone told me if you fix your start you’ll run faster, but I won every meet.

“So why don’t they fix their finish? The guy is phenomenal. Stop coaching from computers and just celebrate a young guy who’s going to be great,” Lewis said.
