American sprint queen Gabby Thomas was one of the most successful athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympics where she won three gold medals.

Thomas claimed gold in the women’s 200m and followed it up with the 4x100m and 4x400m relay titles to sign off in the best possible way.

Her success has put her on the map and made her one of the most followed athletes. what has endeared her most to supporters is the fact that she is also accomplished in academics as she holds a Masters degree in public health.

Thomas was born in Georgia and raised in Massachusetts on December 7, 1996.

Thomas was inspired to succeed in academics by her single mother who raised her and her brother by working as a waitress.

She was admitted at the prestigious Harvard University to study neurobiology with a minor in global health and health policy and a citation in French.

It was during her university education that her athletics career began, winning 22 national titles in six different track events.

In May 2023, Thomas finished her master's degree in epidemiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, at their Austin regional campus.

Volunteer work

Even with her busy schedule, Thomas still finds time to work as a volunteer at Volunteer Healthcare Clinic in Texas where she is the director of the clinic’s hypertension-prevention programme, helping monitor a group of prediabetic patients and ensuring they get the medications and support they need.

Love life

Thomas is currently dating Spencer McManes, who was a quarterback for Yale in his college years, having first met in 2022.

Not only is he Gabby Thomas’ boyfriend, but he is also a constant support system for her and he was in Paris to cheer his girlfriend as she battled for medals.

The 29-year-old has a degree in political science and briefly worked at a company named MyChrystal Group in Virginia. He is also an entrepreneur and owns a non-alcoholic kava seltzer brand called Kaviva.

Gabby Thomas is estimated to be worth close to $5 million coming from her brand endorsements and track earnings.

She has deals with New Balance, HOTSHOT, Eli Lilly and Company, Lenovo, Nulo, Whoop and Skims.

From her three gold medals in Paris, she will receive a total of $75,000 from World Athletics, which is awarding gold medallists with $50,000 while relay gold medallists share a similar amount equally.
