17-year-old Gout Gout won the 100m Australian U20 Championships clocking a blistering 9.99s twice on the same day, thus strengthening his hype as Usain Bolt's chosen heir.

Australian teen sensation Gout Gout deemed Usain Bolt's 'chosen' heir has lived up to expectations again with astonishing two sub-10s run on the same day.

At the Australian Athletics Championships in Perth on Thursday, the teenager clocked 9.99s (+3.5m/s) to win his U-20m 100m heat, before coming back to blaze to the same time in (+2.6m/s) wind in the final.

Unfortunately, neither time will count as his official Personal Best (PB) or record's as both were assisted by illegal high tailwinds.

Gout who had never dipped under the 10s mark before, as his previous PB was 10.17s, has now added another achievement in his promising young career.

“That’s what I was hoping for. I didn’t get the start I anticipated but I just focused on what I needed to focus on, got through my drive phase and kept driving and saw the clock, so can’t be happier than that,” said Gout after the race when asked about breaking the 10-second barrier.

Gout has been on jaw-dropping form this year, running a 200m world-leading time of 20.05s in March, just 0.01s outside his Australian record of 20.04s to break the long-standing Oceania record in December last year.

Following this up, he became the first-ever Australian to break the 20 seconds barrier for the 200m, running 19.98s at the Queensland State Championships. Sadly again the time also won’t stand as an official record because of illegal wind conditions (+3.6m/s).

These consistencies have proven beyond doubt that the youngster being compared as the heir to Bolt's throne isn't just a fallacy but he's actually the next big thing on the sprint track.

With the 100m done and dusted, Gout will be gunning to make the same impression on Sunday, when he races in his favourite event - the 200m, by aiming for more blistering times to continually live up to the hype in the athletics community.
