Grand Slam Track Kingston: Olympic champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone sharp and ready for first-ever race in Jamaica

As more track stars arrive in Kinston for the Grand Slam Track, Olympic champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is already on ground looking in shape for her first-ever race in Jamaica.

Paris Olympic champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone was captured looking sharp and ready for her 2025 season opener and first-ever race in Jamaica, ahead of the first leg of the Grand Slam Track Kingston.

The hurdling queen and world record holder who's one of the top stars for the inaugural league, is signed to compete as a Racer in the 400m and 400mH against other Olympic champions and medallists such as Marileidy Paulino, Salwa Eid Naser, and Rushelle Clayton.

Already in Kingston, McLaughlin-Levrone was captured during her warm-up sessions looking in shape to continue her winning streak and challenge Paulino's winning streak in the 400m.

Consequently, the Grand Slam Track in Kingston will be the first time the quarter-mile hurdler will race a regular 400mH season outside the USA since August 8, 2022, when she ran 51.68s at the Gyulai Istvan Memorial in Hungary.

The highly anticipated Grand Slam Track League created by four-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Johnson, will feature four track meets - aka Slams, in which signed Racers and appearing Challengers will compete head-to-head in two events over the two-day competitions.

A total of 96 athletes (48 Racers and 48 Challengers) are signed to compete in each Grand Slam with a prize pot of $12.6 million in total, and has attracted other top names such as Olympic champions Gabby Thomas and Masai Russel, as well as Jamaican stars Ackera Nugent and Oblique Seville.

Runners will be awarded $100,000 for winning a race per event with the prize money going down to $10,000 to be awarded to the eighth-placed finisher in each Slam.

Other cities for the Slam venues are: Miramar/Miami, Florida at the Ansin Sports Complex from May 2 - 4, Philadelphia from May 30 - June 1, and Los Angeles the final city from June 27 - 29.
