The Ethiopian is one of the fastest full marathon runners in the world, having ran six World class marathons in less than 2hours 9 minutes.

Ethiopia's Hayla Bazu Worku will be leading the team of foreign world-class runners that will participate at the Gold-Label eighth Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.

The marathon will be held on February 4th in Lagos.

The Ethiopian is one of the fastest full marathon runners in the world, having run six world-class marathons in less than 2 hours and 9 minutes.

Worku's fastest race was at the Berlin Marathon in 2010, where he finished third with 2 hours, 05 minutes, and 25 seconds.

The 2014 Houston Marathon winner won the race in 2 hours, 7 minutes, and 32 seconds.

Another world-class foreign runner ready to burn the route at the Lagos City Marathon is Kenya's John Komen, a 2019 Athens Marathon winner with a time of 2 hours, 16 minutes, and 34 seconds.

The 42-year-old Komen had recorded better times in past races; 2 hours, 7 minutes, and 13 seconds at the La Rochelle Marathon.

Kenya's Barmasai David is another world-class foreign runner with the biggest chance to prove a point in Lagos.

David set a personal best of 2 hours, 7 minutes, and 18 seconds at the 2011 Dubai Marathon, the same year he placed fifth at the World Marathon Championships.

David won the 2020 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, and he is one of the familiar faces to win this year again.

Former champions to compete in the women’s category

Tinbit Didey, a former champion of the Marrakesh Marathon, and Esther Macharia, a former winner of the Graz Marathon and winner of the Bregenz Marathon, are among the top leading world-class foreign runners. She has a personal best of 2 hours, 27 minutes, and 15 seconds, recorded in 2022 at the Grandma's Marathon in the USA.

Kenya's Mercy Jerop Kwambai, is yet another world-class runner, with the most recent performances that may change some expectations at the Gold-Label Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.

The foreign elite athletes are from 22 countries across the world, and a total of 50,000 runners in all will be running in the Gold-Label Access Bank Lagos City Marathon on Saturday, February 4.
