For the first time, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone detailed her marital relationship with her husband Andre Levrone Jr. including how they met, the favourite things he loves about him and their best date.
Hurdling queen Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has listed the favourite things she likes about her husband Andre Levrone Jr. and what their perfect date is like.
McLaughlin-Levrone fresh from setting a new 400mH World Record and winning the gold medal at Paris Olympics has high praise for her husband and what she enjoys most about him in their marriage.
"Andre and I met when he slid into the DM," said McLaughlin-Levrone on their first interaction.
"What inspires me most about Andre is how much he pushes me to be the best that I can be. Not a lot of people truly see the purity in everybody but he does and in our relationship, there's never judgment. It's truly just love and concern and being able to have an open honest dialogue where you can get things out there."
The track star and her husband had a modern meet-cute in 2020 and they tied the knot just two years later. Although the pair rarely post about their relationship, Levrone is his wife’s biggest fan and is often seen cheering her on from the stands at most of her track meets.
On what their best and perfect date was like, McLaughlin said: "It was probably the second day we went to the beach, we brought food and didn't have forks and we ate salmon with our hands. It was such a bonding moment that now I'm like let's do this again."
The couple were at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she successfully defended her 400mH title in a new World and Olympic Record of 50.37s - her sixth time breaking the WR in her career.
After Levrone’s face was shown on the jumbotron, McLaughlin’s face visibly lit up. She later told NBC that having him in the crowd “means everything” to her.
“[He is] my best friend. My biggest supporter and my personal pastor,” she gushed. “I love him more than life itself.”
Who is Andre Levrone Jr.
Levrone was born in Maryland and grew up in a family of athletes. After a breakout high school career, the wide receiver had his pick of offers from Division 1 schools like Auburn, Mississippi State, University of Southern California, Clemson, and Hawaii.
However, he ended up going to the University of Virginia, where he studied Mass Communications and Media Studies until his graduation in 2017.
Although Levrone went undrafted out of college, he eventually signed a contract with the Baltimore Ravens in 2018. After a year with the organization, the 6-foot-2 athlete joined the Carolina Panthers. Levrone announced his retirement from the league after two seasons in September 2020.
