Obiri was outsmarted by defending champion Senberi Teferi of Ethiopia who won the race in 30:12.
Obiri believes the 29-year-old has the ability to pull off another surprise since she is a strong and dedicated athlete.
“She’s amazing! I think she’s going to break so many records. She’s so strong and young and she has the speed. I think before this year ends, she might have broken three world records,” Obiri said.
Kipyegon’s next port of call is at the Diamond League Meeting in Monaco where she will be taking on the mile, a distance she last ran during the Diamond League meeting in Oslo in 2016.
Meanwhile, the world 10000m silver medallist also revealed that missing out on this year’s World Championships in Budapest, Hungary was not an easy decision to make but she also wanted to give an opportunity to young athletes.
