World Road Running Championships 5km silver medallist Lilian Kasait is a woman on a mission as she seeks qualification for the upcoming World Cross-country Championships scheduled for March 30 in Belgrade, Serbia.
Kasait is eyeing the Sirikwa Classic Cross-country where she will be out to make a statement as she gets ready for the global event in Belgrade.

ATHLETICS Fans given reasons to turn up in droves for Sirikwa Cross-country
Barnaba Korir, the Sirikwa Classic Cross-country race director, has urged fans to flood the Lobo village on Saturday and cheer on their favourite athletes as they toe the line.
The former All-African Games champion noted that the Paris Olympic Games are not her priority at the moment since she has more time to prepare for them and she is focusing more on the Cross-country because it’s closer.
“Running this cross-country motivates me a lot to prepare for the World Cross-country because the Olympics are quite far,” Kasait said during a pre-race press conference.
Kasait is also not shaken by the tough competition that awaits her and she expressed her eagerness to race against them.

Kenya's Agnes Ngetich recently broke 10km world record and now eyes on major future athletic events.
She will be up against the likes of Emmaculate Anyango, the second-fastest woman over 10km, and Grace Loibach Nawowuna, who was fourth at the World Cross Country Championships in Bathurst.
Also, in the mix will be former London Marathon champion Joyciline Jepkosgei who will be looking to open her season on a high.
World half marathon bronze medallist Catherine Reline who was in a class of her own last season will be looking to continue her winning streak.

Magdalyne Masai has been confirmed for the Sevilla Marathon where she hopes to start her season on a good note.
“We have the likes of Emmaculate Anyango and other athletes who are strong and I’m happy to race against them. If things go well, I can say I will finish in the podium bracket and fans should come and cheer us on,” she said.
