The 2023 Prague Half Marathon champion Roncer Kipkorir has complained of the high Olympic qualification standards, hence his reluctance to bid for a ticket to the global bonanza.
He has credited his coach Patrick Sang and training mates and the hard work invested in training that has finally paid off.
“The race was great and for the training that Patrick Sang has given us…I train with the seniors, Nicholas Kimeli, Amos Serem, Eliud Kipchoge, and Daniel Mateiko, and to me, the race was okay,” Edmund said.

ATHLETICS Serem brothers chasing history at African Games
The Serem brothers, Amos and Edmund Serem will be chasing history at the upcoming African Games after making the cut to Team Kenya following the conclusion of the two-day national trials.
He was in action at the African Games in Ghana earlier this year, where he managed to finish in an impressive sixth place considering he is only 16.
At the African Games, the race was won by Ethiopia’s Samuel Firewu with Serem finishing second and Simon Koech completing the podium.
He also competed at the Kip Keino Classic, where he finished eighth in the hotly contested race won by Commonwealth Games champion Abraham Kibiwott.
“If God enables me to go to Cameroon, I promise Kenyans that I will win and bring home a gold medal,” the Africa Under-20 champion said.
He has been off to a great start in his career, where he was in action at last year’s Africa Under-20 Championships in Ndola, Zambia and managed to finish first. He also has eyes set on the World Under-20 Championships in Peru, Lima, with the hopes of bagging his first ever world title.
