Olympic silver medalist Sha'Carri Richardson is all about relating with people on a personal level and building mutually beneficial relationships.

Olympic silver medalist and reigning women’s 100m world champion, Sha’Carri Richardson, has always been recognized for her fiery personality and vibrant presence both on and off the track.

But beyond the accolades and the spotlight, Richardson hopes people remember her for one particular trait, her relatability with people on a personal level and ability to forge meaningful relationships.

In a recent interview with Essence, the track and field star reflected on what sets her apart as both an athlete and an individual.

"I would say one thing about myself that I adore and I love about me that most people may not know is that I am always going to show you who I am," she shared.

Richardson emphasized the importance of being true to herself, regardless of how others may perceive her.

She explained, "I have no problem doing it because no matter what, I always want people to be able to walk away from me and say, ‘I understand her. I can relate to that.’”

While her athletic prowess and accomplishments, including her silver medal and world championship title, have solidified her place in the sport, Richardson wants to be relatable on a deeper level.

"I want them to say, 'I may not relate to being an athlete, to being successful but I can relate to being human. I can relate to continuing to show up no matter what,'" she acknowledged.

Richardson’s journey has not been without challenges, but her resilience and determination have made her a symbol of perseverance.

Her message underscores the importance of embracing one’s humanity, flaws and all, and showing up authentically in every aspect of life.
