After his disappointing exit from the Paris Olympics, Ferdinand Omanyala questioned and cursed God but later found peace after what he describes as receiving a divine message.

Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala has taken fans down an experience he had with God at the Paris Olympic Games last year.

Omanyala revealed that after being eliminated from the men’s 100m final, owing to his eighth-place finish in the semifinal, he had so many questions and too much anger directed to God.

Ferdinand Omanyala revealed that he was confident of making the final of the men’s 100m and hopefully also winning a medal but things did not go as planned.

The reigning Commonwealth Games champion explained that following his anger at God, he deleted all Bible apps from his phone and wanted to change his path. That same night, at the Olympic Village, Ferdinand Omanyala could not sleep.

He recalled that around 4am, he received an email from God, something that was extremely unusual and his management and coaches found it difficult to believe.

“The next morning, at around 4am, I got an email from God, and it read, ‘It wasn’t supposed to be this way, we don’t always understand God’s will and if I’m being honest, there are times that we don’t like His will either,” Ferdinand Omanyala said.

“When grief lands on our doorstep, we are not sure if we can cope. When we think about what we could have done, what we could have been. Wrestling with our deepest, our deepest pain is hard, but if the Bible doesn't hide stories about suffering, neither should we.

“Whatever you're facing right now is not the end of your story. God is with you and always will be. That's the email I got from God at 4 am.”

Ferdinand Omanyala revealed that the message made him understand the purpose God wanted him to accomplish at the end of the day.

The Kenyan sprinting sensation revealed that God was protecting him from what was happening at the Olympic Games and he felt at peace with what had happened.

Ferdinand Omanyala remains confident that one day, might not be today or tomorrow, he will achieve a historic feat and all the glory will be to God.

“God had removed me from the destruction of these fights and I came later to realise that it was God’s will that everything happens for a reason and I just came to say thank you,” Ferdinand Omanyala revealed.

“I believe a miracle will happen, maybe not this year, not next year or maybe eight years later but I understand that a miracle will happen.”

Before the Paris Olympic Games, Ferdinand Omanyala was confident that he would make history for Kenya following the scriptures he was reading and the visions his prayer partners had for him.

Omanyala revealed that after failing to make the impact, he had so much anger directed towards God since he felt like the embarrassment was too much and he would rather walk alone.

Ferdinand Omanyala says he second-guessed his career and was unsure about the path he should take after the disappointing Olympic Games.

He explained that his spikes had Bible verses and he was just competing for the glory of God but the embarrassment and disappointment were overwhelming.

“I was here last year, before the Olympic Games, I was going to the Olympics as the second-fastest guy in the world and we had so much assurance from God. We were getting a lot of Bible verses through our kids who are like seven years old,” Ferdinand Omanyala revealed.

“So many people were giving us visions, our prayer partners were giving us visions. On day two of the Olympics, I ran so well in the heats in the first round but on day two, in the semifinal, I don’t know what happened.

“After the semifinal, we went back to the apartment where we were staying because when you have a championship you have your family come over too. We were there and I was asking God what happened, I cursed God that day.”

After the Olympic Games, Ferdinand Omanyala took a short break and resumed competition before rounding up his season with the men’s 100m invitational at the Diamond League Meeting final in Brussels.

He opened his season at the second Athletics Kenya weekend meet in Thika. It remains unclear whether he will be competing at the World Indoor Championships or he will just continue competing outdoors in the build-up to the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
