In a series of Insta story posts, Asher-Smith talked about how much she's excited to compete in Jamaica and what she has planned out for the trip.

"I can't even begin to express how excited I am to be running in Jamaica for my next race," wrote the British 100m and 200m record holder as one of her captions.

"I've wanted to do this for so long. I feel like I can begin to get really really excited about it because it's now official next up," she added.

"I'll just be sitting here watching TV and then I'm like I'm racing in Jamaica soon AAAAHHH.

"I literally screamed when I saw it on my schedule. I'll let loose of my next level of excitement when I board the plane.

"I've already planned the nails I'm going to get and the outfit I want to wear when I take pictures with the statues outside the National Stadium. I am a fan okay."

Asher-Smith's mom Julie was born in London, while her dad Winston was born in Jamaica but moved to England when he was a child. She has Jamaican and Trinidadian ancestry.

The 28-year-old is on a mission to become the first British female sprinter to win an individual Olympic medal, and racing in Jamaica will be another preparation to achieving that dream.
