In an Instagram post, Schmidt reflected on a tumultuous year marked by achievements and setbacks.

"It's been quite a year. It was filled with so many highlights and I made some memories that will last forever," she wrote.
Her highlights included qualifying for the Olympics in the mixed 4x400m relay at the World Relays in the Bahamas and qualifying for the women's 4x400m event at the European Championships in Rome.

However, the Paris Olympics proved to be a challenging experience, despite her participation, Germany was knocked out in the heats of both the mixed and women's 4x400m races.
Schmidt later described the experience as "an emotional rollercoaster."

Embracing a New Challenge
Schmidt has declared that she is embracing a new challenge, saying, "Back in 2022, I decided that I wanted to give the 800m a shot after the Paris Olympics, so now it means. I'm going for it," she declared.
To prepare for this new endeavor, Schmidt will be attending her first high-altitude training camp with an international 800m group.

"I'm super excited for this new challenge and what it will bring," she expressed.
Beyond the Olympics
While her focus will be on the 800m, Schmidt has not completely abandoned the 400m.
"I'm also going to run the 400m but focus more on the endurance part in training for now," she clarified.
