And Bobi Wine couldn't hide his excitement about the star his son is destined to be, given his dedication and hard work.

Youngster Solomon Kampala Kyagulanyi has set his athletics dreams clear and has, time and again, vowed to become a world champion someday.

To realize his dream as a track racer, Kampala joined the Texas A&M Corpus Christi track team in the United States.

On Monday, his parents, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine and mother, Barbie Itungo, were in the United States to support and cheer in his practice races.

And Bobi Wine couldn't hide his excitement about the star his son is destined to be, given his dedication and hard work.

"So, this young man Solomon Kampala Kyagulanyi decided to take a completely different path from mine," Bobi Wine, a musician-turned-politician, said after watching Kampala race.

"It was the very first time for me to physically see him running, and I was quite impressed. The boy is fast!"

"Keep going, son. Impossible is nothing. Hopefully, one day, you'll proudly carry our national flag like all the legends that came before you."

Kampala is a 200m runner who even scooped bronze in the Ultimate Race Nights in Dubai in March 2023 after running 23.09 seconds, which is his recorded personal best to date.

In April last year, still in the national athletics trials, Kampala missed out on a spot in the national team going to the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, by a whisker.

He ran 24.72 seconds to finish third in his heat as eventual winner Allan Ngobi finished with 21.08 seconds.
