There were fears in some quarters in Nigeria that Tobi Amusan might be banned and not available to fly the country’s flag at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

However, all of these fears have now been laid to rest after news emerged that the Court of Arbitration for Sports has cleared the 100m Hurdle World Record Holder of any wrongdoing.

Recall that in July 2023, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) had provisionally suspended Tobi Amusan for breaching an anti-doping rule - missing three whereabouts tests.
Consequently, Amusan appealed her provisional suspension and an independent Tribunal was set up to review the case. The 27-year-old Nigerian athlete was found not guilty, and her ban was lifted.
However, the AIU refused to give up and pursued further measures to nail Amusan. The athletics regulatory body filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sports.
After months of anxious waiting, Tobi Amusan finally received the good news that she had been cleared by the Court of Arbitration for Sports and can now compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics for a chance to further solidify her status as the best in her trade.
