Faith Kipyegon's statue erected in Eldoret has been termed insulting to the Legendary 1500m runner by Kenyans, which has led to an online outrage.

Kenyans are highly livid with their athletics administrators and officials after erecting an ugly statue in honour of their multiple Olympic champion and World Record holder Faith Kipyegon.

The legendary middle and long-distance runner who's rated as the greatest women's 1500m runner in history, has won all medals at the world championships and the Olympics, while also being the World Record (WR) in the women's 1500m event.

At the just concluded Paris 2024 Games, Kipyegon clocked an Olympic Record of 3:51.29 to become the first woman in history to do a three-peat of gold medals in the 1500m event, which dates back to Rio 2016 and the delayed Tokyo 2021 Games.

In addition, she won the silver medal behind her compatriot Beatrice Chebet in the 5000m event, thus leaving Paris with two medals.

Kipyegon's impact in Kenyan and World Athletics cannot be over-emphasised as she's one of the few athletes in history to win a world title at all levels (youth, junior, and senior).

Following her Paris 2024 exploits, the 30-year-old and other Kenyan Olympic medallists were honoured to a grand reception in Eldoret, Kenya with her statue being erected in the city.

The general look of the statue has been termed 'ugly and insulting' by Kenyans, leading to various angry reactions online by slamming their administrators.
