Ugandan long distance runner Jacob Kiplimo successfully defended the Senior Men's World Cross Country Championship (10km) in a tight race in Belgrade, Serbia on Saturday.
Kiplimo ran 28:09 to clinch the gold he also won last year in Bathurst.
He beat Ethiopian Berihu Aregawi and Kenyan Benson Kiplangat, who ran 28:12 and 28:14, to finish second and third, respectively.

He made history in 2016 when – at the age of 15 – he became Uganda’s youngest Olympian, contesting the 5000m at the Rio Games. One year later, on home soil in Kampala, he won the U20 title at the World Cross Country Championships.
In today's race, Cheptegei failed to make the podium as he finished sixth after finishing 28:24.
