Fresh from defending and successfully clinching the 2024 Belgrade World Athletics Cross Country Championships, Uganda's long-distance runner Jacob Kiplimo has his sight set to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The 2021-year-old has targeted the grand prize, gold in the 10,000m race, the fondest of all in distance races.

The same alluded him three years back in Tokyo as he scooped bronze, with compatriot Joshua Cheptegei taking silver, as Ethiopia's Selemon Barega emerged the victor.

"My goal this year is to do what Joshua Cheptegei did and win an Olympic gold," Kiplimo said after the Belgrade triumph.

"My main focus is the 10,000m, but I’m not sure yet if I want to double," Kiplimo added.

The Commonwealth Games champion (10,000m and 5,000m) added on how defending the Cross Country Championships will boost his pursuit for gold at the Olympics.

“I was hungry for medals after missing Budapest last year. I was in good shape, but then the injury happened and I had to get treatment, but I am back now."

The 10,000m race in Paris slated for August 2 promises pulsating action as Kiplimo will be against one of the greats and compatriot Cheptegei.
