Multiple world and European champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen has confirmed that he is set to become a father with his first child due just before the Paris 2024 Olympics
Multiple world and European champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen is set to become a father after confirming that his wife is expecting the couple’s first child.
Ingebrigtsen and his wife wife Elisabeth Asserson got married in September 2023 in an American-style wedding attended by only 10 people, including five bridesmaids and five groomsmen, and have wasted little time in starting a family.
On his Instagram page, the world and European champion revealed the news, saying the child is due in June, just a month before the July 26-August 11 Paris 2024 Olympics.

ATHLETICS Disappointment for Noah Lyles’ girlfriend Junelle Bromfield after defeat in New Balance Indoor Tour
Bromfield finished a disappointing fifth in the final of the 400m event at the New Balance Indoor Tour over the weekend.
“New team member coming in June,” Ingebrigtsen posted, accompanying it with a photo of him and his pregnant wife.
Jakob and Elisabeth met each other when they were 16 years old and in 2021, the Tokyo Olympics gold medallist proposed to his longtime girlfriend before the wedding two years later.
Ingebrigtsen is preparing for a busy 2024 season which will culminate in the Paris Olympics although his campaign will start late after pulling out of next month’s World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Scotland due to an Achilles injury.
The 23-year-old had a 2023 season to remember, winning two gold medals in the men’s 1,500m and 3,000m at the European Indoor Championships before defending his 5,000m title at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary but fell short in 1,500, managing a second straight silver at the event.
He ended his year with victories at the Diamond League 2023 Final as he clinched the men’s mile and 3,000m events.
In the mile, he came close to the world record as he timed 3:43.73, while he clocked the third-fastest time in history in the 3,000m (7:23.63) in Eugene.
