Dennis Mitchell aims to break the Jamaican dominance in the Sprint, revealing he now has a team led by Sha'Carri Richardson to orchestrate USA's superiority back in the 100m and 200m events.
Sha'Carri Richardson's coach Dennis Mitchell is on a mission to put an end to the Jamaican dominance in the sprint over the past few years, disclosing this in the new Netflix docuseries.
The SPRINT series hit screens globally on Netflix (July 2), is about the lives of top athletes such as Richardson, Noah Lyles, Marcell Jacobs, and Shericka Jackson as they navigate the rollercoaster ride of being among the fastest sprinters of all time.
It also shines a spotlight on their lives – on and off the track – as never seen before, delving deep into the relationships, rivalries, trials, and tribulations behind the race to become a global champion in the 100m and 200m.
In Episode 2 of the series, while Mitchell was preparing Richardson for the fancied clash with her biggest opponent - Jackson for the Silesia Diamond League, he was vocal about the rivalry with the Jamaicans through the years and not being happy about their domination in the event he coaches.
"In my time as an athlete, it was the year of the American titans," said the Barcelona 1992 Olympic 4x100m gold and 100m bronze medallist.
"We were like movie stars, we were big-time celebrities because back then the United States was so dominant," he added.

Noah Lyles and Sha'Carri Richardson: USA's undisputed fastest man and woman heading to the Paris Olympic Games
With less than 30 days before the start of track and field at the Olympic Games, Noah Lyles and Sha'Carri Richardson will head to Paris as USA's undisputed fastest man and woman.
"Over the last few years, I've watched us fight to do the same job because now the sport is super competitive. I want to win the world championship as a coach but I just haven't had the roster of the guys that can do it.
"Over the last few years, I've watched Jamaicans go 1-2-3, including last year at the world championships (2022). To have the Jamaicans be so dominant in the events that I coach is disheartening. But now I have the team that can rival those Jamaicans when it comes to the world championships in Budapest.”
Richardson will go on to win the women's 100m title in Budapest, clocking a Championship Record of 10.65s as Jackson finished second and the legendary Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was third.
With the Paris Olympic Games set to be another hunting ground for the two countries to reignite their rivalry and gun for bragging rights, track fans can anticipate another electric sprinting performance in the French city.
