Jamaica has faced a huge blow with the 4x400m men's relay team being knocked out of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after years of dominating the big stages.
Jamaica has received a major setback since the men’s 4x400m team will not be competing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
This comes after the team failed to make it to the top 16 in their final bid on Sunday hence they will be left out of the global competition. The team, comprising Reheem Hayles, JeVaughn Powell, Kimar Farquharson and Tarees Rhoden, was competing at the NACAC New Life Invitational held in Nassau, Bahamas.
They managed to run an astonishing 2:59.75 at the but failed to run faster than the 2:59.12 seconds set by Zambia in March. This marks the third time the team was making an attempt to qualify for the global bonanza.

Their first attempt to make it to the top 16 was at the World Athletics Relays, also held in the Bahamas, in early May.
At the global showpiece, they could only manage a third place in their first-round heat and as per World Athletics and the International Olympic Committee, the top two teams were the only ones to qualify. They faded to a fifth place in the second qualifying run.
As it stands, 14 teams managed to qualify from the World Relays with the next best two teams, based on times run during the qualifying window, being added. France are in the mix after running 2:58.46 last year, with Zambia who have also qualified so far with the window set to close on June 30.

Kenya's mixed relay team is currently ranked sixth in the world, but have to wait till 30th June to confirm if they have sealed the 15th and 16th slot for the Olympic games in Paris this August.
The setback is a huge blow since it will be the first time Jamaica has failed to qualify for the men’s 4x400m at any major championships in decades.
