The Kenya Football Fans Federation (KEFOFA) has made a plea to both the Ministry of Sports and Football Kenya Federation following the large fan turnout witnessed at Nyayo Stadium.

The Kenya Football Fans Federation (KEFOFA) has issued a statement following the large turnout of fans at the Nyayo National Stadium over the last two Sundays.

On March 30, The Mashemeji Derby was attended by a large number of fans, as AFC Leopards settled for a 0-0 draw with Gor Mahia.

The week before, Harambee Stars took on Gabon in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in what was Benni McCarthy’s first home game in charge of the side, but the game ended in a 2-1 loss for Kenya with Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang scoring twice.

That game was equally attended by a large number of fans, and even McCarthy himself was left amazed by the atmosphere the fans created, believing that it showed what “Africa should be” about

In response, KEFOFA issued a statement commending the passionate support displayed at both matches.

*Kenya Football Fans Federation (KEFOFA)* extends its warmest congratulations to the incredible fans who turned out in support of the Harambee Stars during their recent World Cup qualifier match against Gabon.

“Your unwavering patriotism and encouragement for our national team are deeply commendable.

“We also celebrate the fans of Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards SC for their display of true camaraderie during the recent Mashemeji Derby. Your sportsmanship and love for the game exemplify the spirit of football and its power to unite communities.”

“As KEFOFA, we firmly believe that it is time for the Ministry of Sports and the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to join forces with Kenya Football Fans Federation to energize and elevate the football experience in Kenya.

“Together, we can create memorable and impactful moments that enrich the sport and foster national pride.

Meanwhile, KEFOFA has called for increased fan registration with the federation to bolster their organisational capacity and improve future planning, especially considering fans could have a chance to travel to The Dominican Republic to support the side.

Fans are encouraged to register on the federation’s official website (https://www.kefofa.co.ke/register.php) Membership options include:

Ordinary Membership: Annual subscription at Ksh3,000.

Corporate Membership: Ksh100,000

Life Membership: Ksh200,000

With fan engagement on the rise, KEFOFA aims to harness this momentum to ensure continued support for Kenyan football, both locally and on the international stage.
