Olympic 200m silver medallist Kenny Bednarek has penned a heartfelt message after being honoured by his hometown with a day named after him.
The American sprint icon has enjoyed a great season and capping it off with a day being named after him is a huge achievement. Upon his return to his hometown, Kenny Bednarek was starstruck after being welcomed by a huge crowd.
Despite the weather being unfavourable, he extended a hand of gratitude to all the people who went to cheer him on as he made a grand entrance into the town.

Maureen Jepkoech & Asbel Kiprop pocket Sh50,000 each after claiming Machakos Cross Country titles
Asbel Kiprop Kiprono and Maureen Jepkoech claimed victories in the men's and women's 10km senior races at the first Athletics Kenya Cross Country Series in Machakos.
“Coming back home to Rice Lake and parading through the streets was an absolute honour. Seeing so many people from my hometown braving the rain to show support is something I’ll never forget. Thank you to the Mayor of Rice Lake for proclaiming October 12th as Kenny Bednarek Day,” Kenny Bednarek said.
He was impressive at the US Olympic trials, finishing second in both the 100m and 200m to seal a ticket to the Paris Olympic Games. Bednarek also enjoyed a great run, winning the silver medal in the men’s 200m at the Paris Olympic Games.
The former world 200m silver medallist proceeded to compete in a series of Diamond League Meetings before winning the trophy at the Diamond League Meeting final in Brussels.
Recently, Kenny Bednarek also addressed a huge gathering at the Boy Scouts of America's Leaders of Character Banquet, a prestigious event dedicated to shaping the values of young scouts.
