Kenya’s Philaries Jeruto Kisang and Joyce Njeru have set their eyes on winning gold at the final Valsir Mountain Running World Cup after finishing second and fifth respectively in the penultimate leg on Saturday in Chiavenna, Italy.
The pair headlined the two-day event and will be the ones to watch again as the battle for podium positions go down to the wire.
Kisang, who started the race one place behind the winner Scout Adkin in the rankings, was second in 38:35 and her compatriot Njeru, the World Cup leader, finished fifth in 39:55. Swiss runner, Paola Stampanoni held on for third place, Finland’s Susanna Saapunki was fourth in 39:44 and Australian Lara Hamilton took sixth.
