Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala is set to meet a familiar foe in American Kenny Bednarek at the Kip Keino Classic in what will be a third meeting between the par at the event.
As the highly anticipated Kip Keino Classic approaches on April 20 in Nairobi, all eyes are on the men’s 100m race, set to showcase the showdown between Africa’s fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala, and American sprinter Kenny Bednarek for the third time.
Omanyala, the Commonwealth Games 100m champion, has been a crowd favourite in previous editions, thrilling spectators with his electrifying runs past the finish line. With a stellar record at the World Continental Tour Gold event, Omanyala is set to make waves once again.
In the 2021 edition, Omanyala made history at the Kasarani Stadium, clocking a continental record of 9.77 and securing a second-place finish. He would secure his first win in 2022 and continued his dominance at last year’s event, clinching victory with a time of 9.84 with Bednarek second in 9.98.
