To Launch Lagos Club Athletics Series
The Lagos State Athletics Association is set to host the state’s athletic contingent at the 21st National Sports Festival, which was held last December in Asaba, Delta State.
The Lagos Club Athletics Series will begin on Wednesday, according to the association's secretary, Funmi Olusanya.
She went on to say that the competition is solely for athletics clubs nationwide and that it is partly based on the World Athletics Wanda Diamond League, where competitors receive points for finishing each leg or series.
On Sunday, February 19, at the Sports Ground of Yabatech (Yaba College of Technology), Yaba, Lagos, the first leg of the competition will begin.
The second leg will hold at Navy Town Ojo on April 15 while the University of Lagos Sports Ground will host the third series on May 6 with the final scheduled for Yabatech in June.
Each leg of the series will award prize money, and the club that wins the series overall will get #100,000,000 at the final.
