Fred Kerley backs Letsile Tebogo in challenging World Athletics to bring back scrapped event
Fred Kerley has supported Letsile Tebogo in pleading with World Athletics to bring back an athletics competition that was done away with in 2020.
In an interview, Tebogo noted that they always ensure their competitions do not get in the way of the relationship they have, acknowledging the fact that there is only one winner.
"With Fred, I know we're always going to have fun because he's my brother, I'm the little boy like he always says so I'm always happy to see Fred in that line-up, I'm always happy to see him there. I'm always amazed to see him even though he knows or I know that one of us has to beat each other but we don't let it come in between the relationship that we have,” Tebogo said.
The 21-year-old added that during his tough times, the former world champion was one of the people who was always there for him.
Tebogo’s world was shattered earlier this year when he lost his mother, Seratiwa Tebogo to a short illness. He took a break from competing and revealed that Kerley would always check up on him and anytime he would not respond, the American sprinter would get mad at him.
“Fred was there for me during my hard times. I remember he just text me, and when I don’t respond, he’ll just get mad at me. Fred was there for me during my hard times. I remember he just texted me and when I don't respond, he'll just get mad at me. So, I believe that's where the relationship came about," he said.
