Letsile Tebogo, Ferdinand Omanyala confirm next stop after Paris Olympic Games

Ferdinand Omanyala and Letsile Tebogo will not be resting on their laurels as they have confirmed where they will clash next after the Olympic Games.

Letsile Tebogo will not be taking a break from competing after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games as he has bee confirmed for the Diamond League Meeting in Rome scheduled for August 30.

Track and field action at the Olympics will take place from August 1 to 11 with the next Diamond League Meeting scheduled for August 22 in Lausanne. Tebogo has been in great shape in his past few races since his comeback from his mother’s, Seratiwa Tebogo’s funeral and he promised to work hard for her.

After his Diamond League victory in Monaco, Tebogo noted that his main focus is to make his mother smile from above. As he heads to the Olympic Games, the world 100m silver medallist will not be hoping to leave empty handed as he plans to double in the 100m and 200m.

After the Olympics, Tebogo will head to Rome where he faces off against Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala in the men’s 100m.

Africa’s fastest woman Marie-Josée Ta Lou-Smith has been confirmed for the women's 200m alongside Daryll Neita and American Mackenzie Long.

World 5000m record holder Gudaf Tsegay will also be in action in the 1500m, going up against newly crowned European champions Ciara Mageean of Ireland and Nadia Batocletti of Italy.

The men’s 5000m has attracted the Ethiopian duo of Hagos Gebrhiwet and Yomif Kejelcha who will take on Jacob Krop.

Meanwhile, Gianmarco Tamberi will lead the home charge as he returns to the Stadio Olimpico. Tamberi has been formidable this season, jumping 2.37m to take gold at the European Championships and he will be in the build-up to earn his third Diamond League Trophy.

Other Italian stars include Larissa Iapichino and Andy Diaz ho will be in action in the women's long jump and men's triple jump respectively.

Zane Weir will be hoping to spring a surprise in the men's shot put, where he takes on three-time Diamond League champion Tom Walsh.
