Letsile Tebogo stars back to winning ways with impressive 200m victory in Botswana

Letsile Tebogo had a very easy win in the 200m event in Gaborone, clocking 20.23s (-1.6).

Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo starred in front of his home crowd by powering to an impressive 200m win at the Botswana Golden Grand Prix in Gaborone.

Competing in his first 200m race of the 2025 season, the Olympic star blazed to an impressive 20.23s (-1.6m/s) to the excitement of all Botswana fans at the stadium, finishing ahead of South Africa's Luxulo Adams with 20.42s, while Belgium's Kobe Vleminckx was third in 20.45s.

Tebogo's effortless victory was a bounce back to winning ways, having lost twice racing in the 400m this season.

At the Maurie Plant Meet in Australia two weeks ago, the track star succumbed to the supremacy of his country mate Bayapo Ndori, who continued his massive statement in the 2025 season.

He defeated Tebogo for the second consecutive time this year in 45.14s, holding off the fast-finishing Olympic champion who clocked a Season's Best (SB) of 45.26s. While at the ASA Grand Prix 1 in South Africa, Ndori charged to a SB of 44.59s ahead of his highly rated teammate in 45.42s.

Following his bounce back to winning ways, Tebogo will be gunning for better performances as the season progresses, eyeing an upset on Noah Lyles for the 100m and 200m titles at the Tokyo World Championships in September.
