After an exceptional 2023 season, Botswana's sensational sprinter Letsile Tebogo was welcomed in his village with two cows and some gifts for making his people proud.
Tebogo stamped his name in the history books of the world's best male sprinters by becoming the first African athlete in history to medal in the men's 100m at the World Championships.
The 20-year-old blazed to an outstanding Personal Best and National Record of 9.88s to claim the 100 silver medal, then won the 200m bronze medal in an impressive 19.81s five days later at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest.
By doing this, Tebogo became the first man from his country and in Africa to medal in both events at the World Championships.

Letsile Tebogo got athletics fans talking after his latest post on his X page about not being motivated.
Also during the season, he smashed the long-standing 200m African Record of 19.68s with a blistering 19.50s at the London Diamond League, thus making him the sixth-fastest man ever in the event at his young age.
In honour of his iconic accomplishments this season, Tebogo was treated to a heroic welcome in his home village Kanye, receiving gifts that included two cows.
On his part, Tebogo thanked his people for their continued support and promised to medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
