Lilian Odira, who is currently in majestic form, will be heading to the Africa Senior Athletics Championships with the hope of being crowned continental champion.
The latest 800m star Lilian Odira is aiming for a gold medal at the Africa Senior Athletics Championships in Doula, Cameroon scheduled for June 21 to 26.
Odira made a full comeback this season, following her maternity break and she has been oozing class with her masterful performance. As she makes her international debut for Team Kenya at the continental showpiece, her main aim is to win a gold medal.
The national champion, however, insisted that she will be grateful if she manages to just achieve a podium finish. She teams up with Sarah Moraa, Mary Moraa’s cousin, who will be hoping to attain the time for the Olympic Games qualification.
Odira already has the time, thanks to her hard work and effort that saw her reap good fruit when she won the Kenyan Olympic trials, beating Mary Moraa to second place with Sarah Sarah completing the podium.

“I will be going to Cameroon for the African Championships and I’m hoping to bring a medal with my high hopes on gold but the most important is being on the podium. From there, I will come back and focus on the Olympics,” she said.
Odira also paid tribute to her coach and training mates for pushing her to success.
She explained that competing against Mary Moraa, the reigning world champion, gave her confidence that she would attain the Olympic time, which she did.
“My coach is Madam Jacinta Muraguri, she is a good coach and has always been there for me in terms of tough times. I also appreciate my training mates for pushing me to achieve this…all my gratitude goes to them and to my family,” she stated.
