Marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge, fueled by experience, strives for new records and the elusive 2-hour marathon barrier with unyielding determination.

Two-time Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge  is once again gearing up to push the boundaries of human endurance and rewrite the record books.

The Kenyan running sensation, who will celebrate his 39th birthday in November, recently visited the INEOS China office in Shanghai, where he shared his unwavering determination to improve upon the current world record while expressing confidence in his age as an asset rather than a hindrance in achieving his goal.

Kipchoge's determination to reclaim his title as the world's fastest marathoner stems from his recent setback at the Chicago Marathon on October 8, where his compatriot Kelvin Kiptum clocked an astonishing time of 2:00:35, surpassing Kipchoge's previous world record of 2:01:09, set at the 2022 Berlin Marathon.

The running icon explained his approach to the challenge, stating, "With age comes experience, and experience is important," he said as per China Daily.

Eliud Kipchoge's association with British multinational chemicals company INEOS has been a pivotal part of his journey to redefine the limits of human endurance.

INEOS organized the groundbreaking INEOS 1:59 Challenge in October 2019, which allowed Kipchoge to make history by becoming the first man to complete a marathon in under 2 hours, clocking an astonishing time of 1:59:40.2.

However, this achievement was not recognized as an official world record due to the use of pacesetters and the absence of open competition.

During his visit to Shanghai, Kipchoge unveiled the first set of INEOS 1:59 Pace Challenge posts, a fitting tribute to the historic event in Vienna, where he broke the 2-hour barrier.

Running enthusiasts now have the opportunity to take on the challenge, attempting to run 352.6 meters within a minute—the very pace that Kipchoge maintained during the INEOS 1:59 Challenge.

"The INEOS 1:59 Challenge has a special place in my heart. Since that event in 2019, I have seen many people inspired to either start running or to take off the brakes in their heads and achieve what they want to achieve," concluded Kipchoge.
