Reigning World 800m champion Mary Moraa has expressed excitement after bagging her first medal at the ongoing African Games in Accra, Ghana.
Moraa anchored the 4x400m mixed relay team to a third-place finish and she could not hide her joy from fans following her dominant exploits.
The relay team clocked 3:19.03 to secure a bronze medal. Team Nigeria clocked an African record time of 3:13.26 to win the race with Botswana finishing second in a national record time of 3:13.99.

Moraa also rallied fans to watch her as she descends on the track for the 400m final where she intended to break the 400m national record and finish in the podium bracket hopefully.
After the race, she shared on her Facebook page saying: “Bronze it is!! Delighted to pick my first continental medal after I anchored Kenya's mixed relay team to the bronze position at the African Games. Thank you for your support. On to the 400m final tomorrow at 7.40 pm (Kenyan time).”

The Commonwealth Games champion has been on fire this season, recording wins in the heats and semifinal of the 400m race at the continental showpiece.
In the heats, Moraa left nothing to chance, winning the race in 52.18 ahead of her closest challenger Asimwenye Simwaka who finished in 53.32. Georgiana Sesay completed the podium after clocking 53.35.
In the semifinal, Moraa clocked an impressive 51.55 to win the race ahead of Zambia’s Quincy Malekani who has also qualified for the final after clocking 52.18. Unfortunately, Simwaka completed the podium in 53.18 but she will not be competing in the final.
Moraa now faces a stern test in the final but she remains unfazed about the tough competition that awaits her since the 23-year-old has been training for the same.
