Following her second-place finish at the USTAF LA Grand Prix, Mary Moraa is ready to rumble against Keely Hodgkinson and Athing Mu at the Prefontaine Classic.

Kisii Express Mary Moraa is ready for the showdown against track rivals Keely Hodgkinson and Athing Mu at the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League Meeting in Eugene next weekend.

Moraa is so far unbeaten in the 800m and will be hoping to continue her winning streak when she takes on the double trouble of Mu and Hodgkinson, the world 800m silver and bronze medallists respectively.

The world 800m champion is aware of the tough competition and she believes both Mu and Hodgkinson are in great shape. She added that her fitness is okay at this moment and she will be banking on that to impress.

“I can say all of us are humans and I think everybody is in good shape and in the race, I expect anything to happen. I can say my body is moving well,” Moraa said in a post-race interview at the LA Grand Prix.

At the event, Moraa was competing in the 400m where she finished second behind Dominican athlete and two-time world champion Marileidy Paulino who clocked an astonishing 50.27 to cross the finish line.

Moraa clocked a season-best time of 50.56 with America’s Alexis Holmes completing the podium in a time of 50.73.

“I’m so happy with the way I’ve performed today…I was just trying to test my body in the 400m in terms of speed and I see my body is not bad having run a season-best,” Moraa added.

She started her 800m campaign at the Kip Keino Classic, winning the race in style before proceeding to the Diamond League Meeting in Doha, Qatar, where she also won the race.

In the 400m race, Moraa started her campaign with the third Athletics Kenya track and field meeting and then also won the African Games national trials. Moraa was in a class of her own, winning the race at the African Games in Accra, Ghana.
