Mary Moraa's Briton opponent Keely Hodgkinson has dived deeper into what their rivalry means in the world of track and field and why she revels at being a part of it.
World 800m bronze medallist Keely Hodgkinson has opened up on her track rivalry with reigning Olympic champion Athing Mu and world champion Mary Moraa.
The Briton youngster noted that she loves the competitive nature of Moraa and Mu and is always excited to be a part of the duo that has pushed her beyond limits.
The Olympic silver medallist added that in their build up to the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, it was exciting to see World Athletics putting up videos to showcase the three women’s prowess and excite fans.

Mary Moraa has penned a heartfelt message, praising Beatrice Chebet following her triumph at the Prefontaine Classic, where she set a world record in her second 10,000m race.
Hodgkinson also mentioned that despite the trio being strong, she notices their emotions whenever races don’t go the way one had planned and she is aware that there is deep rivalry.

“Everyone gets on in the women which is really nice but there definitely is a rivalry under there, like you can tell when someone is annoyed when they don’t win or something hasn’t gone their way.
“It’s so exciting to be a part of it and I genuinely love it…I love the competitiveness going into Worlds last year and even some of the videos that World Athletics put out, I think it was just so cool, and looking into the rivalry, it’s exciting.

Mary Moraa's conqueror reveals strategy she used to hand the Kenyan first loss of the season
Britain’s Keely Hodgkinson stunned Kenya’s Mary Moraa at Prefontaine Classic and she has explained how she floored the world 800m champion in the final stretch of the race.
“I even remember coming down the home straight in Budapest and when the three of us were on like I could literally hear the crowd go louder. So that’s one of the things I can never forget. It’s really good to be a part of,” Hodgkinson told Pro Direct Running.
Meanwhile, Moraa and Hodgkinson have already opened their seasons but Mu, the American, is yet to step foot on the track following a recent injury.
The trio was supposed to clash at the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League Meeting in Eugene, but it was Moraa and Hodgkinson who showed up for the event. The Briton beat Moraa to second place and the Kenyan will be out to revenge the next time the athletes lock horns.
