Inspired by her famous cousin Mary Moraa, Sarah Moraa won a second gold medal for Kenya at the World U20 Championships in dominant fashion.

The Moraa dynasty is in the making after Sarah Moraa won gold for Kenya at the World U20 Championships in Lima, Peru on Saturday morning.

Sarah, cousin to world champion Mary Moraa, lived up to the promise of winning gold at the global event when she clocked 2:00.36 for the win.

Australian Claudia Hollingsworth and American Sophia Gorriaran posted times of 2:00.87 and 2:01.04 to claim silver and bronze respectively.

It was a dominant race from Moraa, who led from gun to tape, showing how she is slowly coming of age.

The writing was already on the wall when Moraa strolled to the final after easily conquering her semi final heat in 2:03.46 on Friday morning, this coming after a 2:05.11 win in the first round.

She was not messing about in the final as she gave her competitors no room for an upset.

The 20-year-old has admitted on several occasions that she draws inspiration from her cousin and the senior Moraa must have been proud of what she saw in Lima.

It is the second gold medal for the youngster in 2024 after winning the African Games title in Accra, Ghana earlier this year.

It wipes off the disappointment somewhat after she missed the Paris Olympics for failing to hit the qualifying standard despite an impressive third place finish at the trials which was aided by her cousin.

Moraa's win brings Kenya's gold medal tally to two and five in total after as many silver and a bronze heading into the final day.
