Mary Moraa’s track rival Athing Mu is still making money off the track after signing an ambassadorial deal alongside world champion Sha’Carri Richardson.
The American is yet to open her season due to a slight injury setback but seems undaunted as she continues bagging wins off the track. She signed a deal with skincare company Olay. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Runner’s World, Mu said she was excited when the brand approached her about becoming an ambassador.
The partnership is also essential in her journey as she chases her dream of becoming a model as she even moved to Los Angeles to actualise her goals.

Alarm as ADAK suspends highest number of Kenyan athletes since January last year
The Anti-doping Agency of Kenya has unveiled the highest number of athletes banned for violating various doping rules.
“[Olay is] all about authentic women. I think one thing that I do within track and field that I want to emphasize—not just to women but also to men and the sport in general—is for all of us to go outside of the box and outside of our events and bring out our personality and character.
“I’ve been interested in fashion and also beauty, so being able to do something like partner with Olay has been really fun to discover myself."
“My dreams and desires have not solely been on track and field because I’ve never only identified with track and field. I’ve always wanted to do other things and see what else I could extend myself to,” Mu told Runner’s World.

Meanwhile, Mu, the reigning Olympic champion, is an exceptional talent who seems to be winning races effortlessly. She rose to fame in 2021 after winning the 800m and 4x400m relay at the delayed Tokyo Olympics.
She also took gold in the two-lap race at the 2022 World Championships and setting an American record of 1:54.97 last season.
Mu has yet to race in 2024 and was scheduled to compete in the 800m against Moraa and Keely Hodgkinson at the Prefontaine Classic on May 25 but pulled out due to soreness in her left hamstring, which also kept her out of the LA Grand Prix and Oxy Invitational earlier in the month.
