Going into the event, the Jamaican was an underdog since he was just coming out of a hamstring injury that threatened his chances of shattering the record. However, Bramwell showcased his determination and focus to achieve the feat that he had been eyeing for a long time.

"It’s a wonderful feeling knowing that I finally broke the record. I’ve been eyeing it since last summer, so it’s a great feeling that I could come here and achieve it. I just took my mind off [the injury] and put my mind on the record. That’s all. As easy as that," Bramwell said.

Meanwhile, Bramwell is also still a student at Calabar High in Kingston, and he has now set the record and will be keen to follow in the steps of greatness.

The youngster is not only good in the 400m but also has great times in the 100m and 200m and has already set Personal Best times over the distance. In the 200m, he has a PB time of 21.45 and in the 100m, he has a PB time of 10.94.
