Elaine Thompson-Herah opened up about her injury struggles and goal of making her dreams come true in Paris.

Reigning double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah is fairly confident of having another historic outing at the Paris Games this summer.

The Jamaican track star who's gunning to become the first woman in history with a three-peat of double sprint Olympic titles has revealed she's ticking all the right boxes to accomplish her dreams in Paris.

Elaine Thompson-Herah is the reigning Olympic sprint champion and fastest woman alive

In an exclusive interview with Athletics Weekly, Thompson-Herah disclosed all she's had to overcome in the past two years and working with a new coach.

"Training is going good so far, you know the work is never easy it's always hard," she said.

"It's an Olympic year, you have to put in that work, and the new setup is going good so far. I'm getting accustomed to being with a new coach and getting instructions, and follow them, but everything is going good so far, I can't complain."

Despite being the fastest woman alive with an impeccable record of 10.54s, Thompson-Herah still has a lofty dream of getting faster and she's doing everything possible in training to make it a reality.

"If you want to be great you have to make tweaks and adjustments and I'm doing that. I like my career to be better each time I go, you know to improve and to work towards my dreams and my goals."

When asked what she'd like to improve on, the Olympic double sprint record holder stated:

"My speed of course because I've been injured for the past two years. I didn't make it to the world championships last year, the year before I didn't achieve the goals that I wanted so making adjustments is good to be at the top that I was before, and I'm looking forward to being back at the top."

In this regard, Thompson-Herah also revealed how difficult it has been in the past couple of years watching other ladies compete.

"Honestly it has been super difficult to know what you're capable of and not able to do that, it keeps setting you back and no matter what you try to do it looks like you're not doing much.

"It's all about staying patient and humble...You know sometimes my setbacks make me a better person and my comeback is always bigger and better than I had left before, so it's all about being humble and patient and God's time."

Ahead of the Paris Olympics, Thompson-Herah revealed her confidence in making history.

"I'm fairly confident, not super, not over and I don't want to apply too much pressure on myself as the reigning Olympic champion. So I want to stay focused and humble and have the right mindset and stay positive of course no matter the obstacles or challenges that comes my way.

"It's a tough one trying to do a three-peat so for me it's just taking it race by race, making it to the trials and let the times speak for itself. But definitely trying to repeat that double and be a part of history."

With so much to accomplish this year, Thompson-Herah is yet to make her season's debut. However, she'll be gunning to make comeback statement performances when she does to prove her readiness for a successful title defense in Paris.
