Letsile Tebogo opened up on Botswana homecoming reception and his dream for African sprinting.

Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo is still in awe of the reception he got in Botswana after 30,000 fans gathered to welcome him home following his Paris 2024 exploits.

Tebogo blazed his way to Olympic history books by becoming the first African and Botswanan to win a major sprint outdoor event after claiming the 200m title in a new African Record (AR) of 19.46s, finishing ahead of Kenny Bednarek and Noah Lyles as they both clocked 19.62s and 19.70s respectively.

In addition, the 21-year-old anchored Botswana's 4x400m relay team to a silver medal in another AR as Team USA claimed the win in a new Olympic Record.

His Olympic triumph has put him on the pedestal as a hero in Botswana and one of the all-time greats in African sprinting history.

With celebrations now over, Tebogo is bound to compete at the Lausanne Diamond League on August 2022, where he'll gun to continue his winning streak in the 200m event.

In the press conference, the 21-year-old revealed how his life has changed since becoming the Olympic champion and his dream for African sprinting.

"The support was really amazing to see 30,000 plus people at the stadium and along the roads coming back home," said Tebogo.

"I believe my life have changed and I've changed a lot of lives in my home country and it's something that I've been looking forward to and not just in my country but also for the African continent because I've shown them that against all odds everything is possible."
