Uganda’s middle-distance star Halima Nakaayi has once again broken the 800m national record she set in 2021.
Nakaayi shattered her own national record of 1:58.03 set at the 2021 Herculis Wanda Diamond League in Monaco as she continues her fine form ahead of the 2023 World Athletics Championships due next month in Budapest, Hungary.
The 2019 world champion broke the 1:58.00 barrier for the first time running a time of 1:57.78 in the Silesia Diamond League, Poland, July 16.
The time is her personal best in the distance since the 2021 Herculis Wanda Diamond League meeting.
However, Kenya’s Mary Moraa dominated the track, blistering away with a 1:56.85 meeting record.
