Shaunae Miller-Uibo of the Bahamas will not defend her 400m Olympics title after an injury forced her out during the Paris Olympics heats.

Defending 400m women’s champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo of the Bahamas will not defend her 400m Olympic title in Paris.

The 30-year-old pulled up during her heat on Monday, with what appeared to be an injury, failing to finish the race.

Miller-Uibo started well but pulled up in the final curve which means she will not get a second chance in the repechage rounds with a new 400m champion set to be crowned in Paris.

It has been a recurring problem for the athlete who also sustained an injury during the 200m heats at the Bahamian Olympic Trials in June and subsequently missed the 400m final.

She was handed a lifeline via the world rankings but the problem returned on Monday, locking her out of the event.
