Nickisha Pryce dropped a record-breaking performance at the London Diamond League, thus becoming the favourite for the Olympic gold medal in Paris.
Jamaica's new 400m sensation Nickisha Pryce has thrown down the gauntlet as the one to beat at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, following her impeccable performance of running a world-leading time of 48.57s to win the London Diamond League.
Making her Diamond League debut, Pryce led from the start to the finish line, defeating a stacked field that included European Champion Natalia Kaczmarek, who settled for second also in a Personal Best (PB) of 48.90s, and Dutch star Lieke Klaver ran a PB of 49.58s for third.
Following her jaw-dropping performance, the 23-year-old Jamaican has proven that her standout NCAA season was no fluke, and she's ready to challenge for the ultimate medal in Paris.
In addition, her jaw-dropping time not only smashed her previous PB and National Record (NR) of 48.89s to win the NCAA title back in June, but it's the seventh fastest on the all-time list.
With the women's 400m event set to be one of the most competitive events at the Paris Olympic Games, Pryce has now put her rivals on notice, talented enough to not just gun for the gold medal but be a major force in the event in the coming years.
