The AIU has banned college jumper Goodness Iredia for the Presence/Use of a prohibited substance (Metenolone and Metabolite).

Rising Nigerian jumper Goodness Iredia has received a 3-year ban by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for the presence/use of prohibited substance metenolene and metabolite.

The 20-year-old long and triple jumper admitted to breaking the anti-doping rules within a week of being accused and got a potential four-year suspension reduced to three.

Goodness Iredia had a standout 2024 college season for University of South Florida

According to the AIU, on 31 January 2025, Iredia provided a urine sample in-competition in Louisville, United States of America (“USA”), which was given code 8081364 (the “Sample”) pursuant to Testing conducted under the Testing Authority of World Athletics – AIU. 6.

On 19 February 2025, the WADA-accredited laboratory in South Jordan, Utah, USA (the “Laboratory”) reported an Adverse Analytical Finding in the Sample based on the presence of Metenolone and its Metabolite 3a-Hydroxy-1-methylene-5a-androstan-17-one (the “Adverse Analytical Finding”).

The Athlete accepted the above consequences for his Anti-Doping Rule Violations and has expressly waived his right to have those consequences determined by the Disciplinary Tribunal at a hearing.

Iredia had an outstanding first season for Cumberland University before transferring to the University of South Florida (USF) in 2024. In his first season, he broke the long and triple jump school record, indoors and outdoors, with marks of 7.90m and 7.94m, while recording 16.26m in the triple jump.

At the 2024 Nigerian Championships, the youngster soared to personal best marks of 8.03m and 16.55m in the long and triple jump respectively.
