Noah Lyles and his mother Keisha Caine have reacted to Junelle Bromfield's dismal performance in the women's 400m semis to miss out on a slot in the final at the Paris Olympics.
Junelle Bromfield went into the women’s 400m semifinal at the Paris Olympics with the hope of making an impact but failed to live up to the billing following her eighth-place finish in 51.93.
In the women’s semifinal, only the top two in each heat would get a slot in the final with the two fastest losers also being allocated slots in the final.
Competing in semifinal one, Bromfield had a great start but faded slowly to cross the finish line last. Bahrain’s Salwa Eid Nasser won the hotly-contested race as Ireland’s Rhasidat Adeleke finished second to secure direct tickets to the final.

She was proud of her exploits, sharing on her Instagram handle saying: “400m semifinalist, mixed 4x4 finalist. I am grateful.”
Tons of fans rallied behind her for the fighting spirit she had and for prioritising the relay before her individual event.
Her boyfriend Noah Lyles was proud of her as he commented on her post: “Simply gorgeous.”
Lyles’ mother was not left behind, as she wrote: “So proud of you.”
By contrast, Lyles has enjoyed a great Olympic campaign, winning the men’s 100m final for his first medal at the Games. His focus has shifted to winning the 200m, whose final is on Thursday night. He also intends to reign supreme in the 4x100m relay.
