Being the world's fastest man comes with its fame, one which Noah Lyles has embraced boldly as his new lifestyle.
Within the past two years, the spotlight has been on Noah Lyles as the face of athletics in the men's track events, making him a sought-after man on and off track.
His 2023 exploits highlighted by winning three gold medals at the World Championships in Budapest, backed up by Olympic 100m gold in Paris, controversial statements and electrifying lifestyle off-track, have made him one of the most talked about sports personalities this year.
Lyles taking the center of attention has seen him hold focus as the main character on the Netflix docuseries Sprint for the second straight season, where he created spectacle with his bold fashions and brash talk.
In a recent interview with theguardian.com, the 27-year-old disclosed how his fame reaches beyond track and field and equivocally brings neutrals into the sport.
“I recently went to [the fashion and culture expo] ComplexCon out in Las Vegas, just to see what was going on,” he said. “I didn’t tell anyone I was coming. As soon as I stepped foot in the building, everybody starts asking for pictures and autographs.

'It's an honour' - Noah Lyles links up with legendary WWE superstar Rey Mysterio at Complexcon 2024 in Las Vegas
Olympic gold medallist Noah Lyles was starstruck meeting WWE hall of famer Rey Mysterio at the 2024 Complexcon in Las Vegas.
"I’m walking past different booths, doing collabs with different companies, meeting so many people that say, ‘We love track and field and want to get involved. We just don’t know how.’ It was astonishing to me.”
Lyles' post-Olympics activities of balancing his fame beyond life as a track star have been in another dimension, making appearances with his Jamaican fiancee Junelle Bromfield at several glamourous social events and gatherings of renowned influential people.
From walking the runway at the New York Fashion Week to being one of the star-studded guests at the GQ Men of the Year party to being a VIP guest for the Las Vegas Grand Prix and competing in a 50m race against content creator IShowSpeed organized and “officiated” by internet mega-personality MrBeast for a $100,000 purse, the six-time world champion has practically put his face everywhere in the sports and entertainment world this year.
While many may believe he's doing too much to gain relevance, factually, his attempt at transcending the sport by improving its visibility to neutral fans is working - referencing his viral race with IShowSpeed.
“But at the end of the day, those men have multiple millions of fans, and by racing [IShowSpeed] I just put track and field on the map – and I didn’t even have to try. If we’re always gonna keep this idea that everything is beneath us, then we’re not gonna get anywhere.”
