Noah Lyles was named World Athlete of the Year for Men's Track in 2023 after his outstanding performance and ambitious goals.

American sprint sensation Noah Lyles was overwhelmed with emotion when he was named the World Athlete of the Year for Men's Track during a prestigious ceremony hosted by World Athletics in Monaco on Monday night.

Lyles, who currently holds the titles for the world's fastest man in both the 100m and 200m events, joined an illustrious group of athletes as World Athletics expanded their awards into three categories.

Alongside the likes of Faith Kipyegon, Armand "Mondo" Duplantis, Tigist Assefa, Kelvin Kiptum, and Yulimar Rojas, Lyles stood tall as a true champion of the track.

The 26-year-old sprint sensation's triumphant journey to this accolade was underlined by the three gold medals he clinched at the world championships in Budapest.

His incredible feat left him momentarily speechless, and he took to social media to express his feelings.

"I don't know what to say... There is so much I want to say, and so much I know I shouldn't say. I need time to truly get my feelings together before I start speaking about what happened tonight," he shared on social media.

However, his humility shone through as he swiftly sent out congratulatory messages to his fellow athletes who were honored that evening.

In a subsequent post, Lyles wrote, "I will say congratulations to everyone who won tonight! You are all amazing athletes and have done so many great things this season! I will see you all in 2024."

Noah Lyles' dedication and perseverance bore fruit when he clocked an impressive 9.83 seconds in the 100-meter race, securing the gold medal.

He then went on to defend his 200m crown in Budapest, solidifying his status as one of the most dominant sprinters on the planet.

To cap off his stellar performance, Lyles also contributed to the 4x100m relay victory with Team USA.

With two individual gold medals and a relay crown to his name, Lyles now sets his sights on achieving the ultimate honor of being crowned Male Athlete of the Year in 2023.

His incredible versatility and ability to excel in multiple categories have left no doubt that he is a force to be reckoned with on the track.

After an awe-inspiring 2023 season, Noah Lyles is now channeling his energy towards the upcoming Paris Olympics.

He has set ambitious goals for himself, aiming to secure gold medals in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay events.

Not content with that, Lyles is also eyeing a spot in the formidable US 4x400m relay quartet, showcasing his determination to push the boundaries of his capabilities.

"I've always known I was the fastest man on the planet, but no one would have believed me unless I had the 100m title," Lyles exclaimed during the Awards Gala.

"That changed the way that people have viewed me a little bit, especially outside of the sport," he added, highlighting the transformative impact of his achievements on his public image.
