Track and Field fans should be excited for day one at the World Indoor Championships owing to the thrilling lineups including Christian Coleman going for revenge against Noah Lyles.

Glasgow has come alive and is ready to host the World Indoor Championships starting today to Sunday at the Commonwealth Arena.

Day One promises great matchups and will witness an action-packed day since world record breakers and global champions are among those taking to the track and field.

One of the major things that track and field fans will be looking forward to will be Christian Coleman’s revenge on Noah Lyles after the latter showed him dust during the World Indoor Championships US trials.

The duo will renew their classic rivalry in the men’s 60m where Coleman will be looking to reclaim the title he last won in 2018, shortly after setting the 60m world record of 6.34.

In Belgrade two years ago, he was edged out by Italy’s Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs after both ran 6.41 and he now wants his title back. Meanwhile, Lyles is hungry for more and he is certainly in the form of a first-world indoor medal.

Another highlight to look out for will be the first final of the championship, the women’s shot put. As per World Athletics, Chase Jackson (nee Ealey) of the United States has won successive world outdoor titles and she has goals to upgrade the world indoor silver she won two years ago in Belgrade.

However, she faces a stern test from Canada’s world silver medallist Sarah Mitton who has been unbeaten so far this year. Jessica Schilder of the Netherlands leads this year’s world list with a personal best of 20.31m.

Youngster Yaroslava Mahuchikh of Ukraine, earned her first global title in the women’s high jump at the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade and she went on to secure the gold medal at th World Championships last year.

The 22-year-old’s defence of her title will be far from certain, however, given the presence of Australia’s Olympic silver medallist Nicola Olyslagers, who began her own season with a personal best of 2.03m.

Meanwhile, Ryan Crouser, the Olympic champion, has pretty much done it all in the men’s shot put but is yet to win a gold medal in the indoor championship. He bagged a silver medal in Belgrade.
